2012-13 Bowl Season Bowl Selection Order

With bowl selection season upon us — two teams already slotted as of Nov. 12 — it’s high time we look at the selection order for the 2012-13 bowl season.

As in years past, the 35 bowls, five of which are BCS bowls, will select 70 teams for play. Selection order in these bowls is not tied to conference finish, but instead a simple draft. A team which finishes the season in sixth place in a conference could be picked second so long as they are bowl eligible.

Again, Ohio State, Penn State and North Carolina are ineligible for bowl games while Texas State, UT San Antonio, South Alabama and UMass are conditionally eligible if 70 teams are not bowl eligible.

Atlantic Coast Conference

1. Orange Bowl (BCS)
2. Chick-fil-A Bowl
3. Russell Athletic Bowl
4. Sun Bowl

9. Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl (contingency)

Big 12 Conference

1. Fiesta Bowl (BCS)
