Twitter Recap: BCS Commissioners Find Consensus on Four-Team Playoff, Oversight Committee Next
Final edition
Following another day of deliberation, the BCS commission stepped in front of the assembled media to make what seemed would be a major announcement.
And while the announcement itself was major, one final step must be completed to dismantle the BCS for good.
The 12 BCS commissioners — 11 conference comishes and Notre Dame’s AD — announced that they would bring just one four-team playoff proposal to the all-important Presidential Oversight Committee next week, which would help them work out a final fix to the BCS playoff mess. They will also propose a plus-one model for everyone’s sake, but especially for Jim Delany’s.

Sources tell CBS Sports that the name “BCS” will soon be history, but the system to replace it is far from decided upon.
Commissioners will meet for a final time Wednesday and Thursday before sending a list of proposals to the NCAA’s Presidential Oversight Committee — which the commissioners hope will pick their favorite to institute for the 2014 season.
Stay tuned here throughout the day and once the commissioners finish for all the latest on the “cutting edge” of college football’s national championship.

The commissioners will reportedly meet today between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. CST at the Hotel InterContinental.
The outlook is positive, but don’t expect anything shocking, says CBS Sports Dennis Dodd:
Source in Chicago: “shocked” if anything gets done here re: playoff. Commissioners could forward models to presidents NEXT week in dc.

There is some early speculation on exactly what proposals the commissioners will send the way of the POC. Most include a four-team playoff, but at least one will likely be in the plus-one vein. Many will also include provisions for allowing non-conference champions into the system if the top ranking conference champions are not in the top six or eight.
Then again, Big Ten commish Jim Delany met with reporters before the start of the meetings, and said that even the POC might just ‘direct’ the commissioners, and not necessarily make a decision at their June 26 meeting:
Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said today “I expect direction from Presidents (on June 26) rather than closure.”

Apparently, there is some compromise and finality to be found. Delany says there is some movement on the money side of things. Not exactly surprising that dollar signs are getting the most attention first:
Delany said there’s some basic agreement on revenue sharing. Wants to have academic component recognized as part of process.

SEC commish Mike Slive seems a little more optimistic about the whole endeavor, saying that the aim is still to get the proposal down to one come the POC meeting:
Mike Slive; “We hope to have consensus on 4-team playoff model” to present to presidents

ETA for that proposal? Slive says tomorrow, when this meeting wraps up:
Mike Slive: “My hope is we come out with a consensus on a four-team playoff tomorrow and what it looks like.”

Yep, we have spillover for two hours tomorrow. Maybe we’ll get more concrete news then?:
The lone microbit of news so far is that the meetings will spill over to Thursday morning. Two-hour BCS meeting scheduled then.

Finally, the group emerged, looking sharp in front of a giant BCS flag and announced they had come to a consensus that a four team model was best, but they would also propose a plus-one:
Delany said BCS has unanimous belief presidents will discuss 4-team model and plus one

And with that, we got little closure on specifics, but we did learn that the POC is going to have a tremendous amount of pull come next Tuesday. Many models will be discussed, but no voting need occur. Just a consensus moving forward. We might be here for the long-haul.
