BCS National Championship Game: Oregon vs. Auburn
–
Just a few days after posting a projected slate of BCS bowls, a new provision in the BCS has thrown a real wrench into what BCS Know How projected for the 2011 BCS Bowls.
The original projection looked like this:
Rose Bowl: Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Oregon State Beavers
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma Sooners vs. Boise State Broncos
Orange Bowl: Connecticut Huskies vs. Virginia Tech Hokies
Sugar Bowl: Texas Longhorns vs. Georgia Bulldogs
BCS National Championship Game: Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Alabama Crimson Tide
However, this provision in the BCS selection process makes things a little bit different:
“For the games of January 2011 through 2014, the first year the Rose Bowl loses a team to the NCG and a team from the non-AQ group is an automatic qualifier, that non-AQ (automatic qualifying) team will play in the Rose Bowl.”
Now, the teams I selected will not change, however, because of this provision, we will have to change the selections in the Rose and Fiesta Bowls because the Rose Bowl is forced to choose a non-AQ team to replace its lost host — in this case, Ohio State. So the new projections look like this:
Rose Bowl: Boise State Broncos vs. Oregon State Beavers
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma Sooners vs. Iowa Hawkeyes
Orange Bowl: Connecticut Huskies vs. Virginia Tech Hokies
Sugar Bowl: Texas Longhorns vs. Georgia Bulldogs
BCS National Championship Game: Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Alabama Crimson Tide
Yes, I know this means a rematch of a regular season game in the Rose Bowl, but the new provision has the Rose Bowl’s hands tied.
That’s what I’ve got for now, however you can be sure this wont be the last of the changes to the projected BCS bowls, even possibly before the season starts just a little more than a month from now.

There is no way that Nebraska will be in a BCS game this year. There is not a chance when you consider that they have to play Washington, Texas, and A&M away. Oklahoma State could be a tough game as well. Then there is the rivalry with CU. At best they only loose two of the five games I mentioned. That alone takes them out of BCS bowl contention. Not to mention that a game against OU or Texas in the Big 12 championship would be a guaranteed loss.

Wisconsin should play Oregon for the National Championship. Wisconsin has racked up two 70 Pt. plus scores and Oregon is a fast team. It would be great to see them match up.
